Moonlit Fruits are a special mutation that were introduced to Grow a Garden during the Lunar Glow Event. This limited-time event saw the introduction of the Wise Old Owl, who has an unusual appetite, and asks players to help feed its children Moonlit Fruits. In exchange for these, you'll receive Lunar Points, which are automatically converted into rewards including Night Seed Packs, Night Eggs, and more. To help you max out your Lunar Points, here's everything you need to know about the best way to get Moonlit Fruit in Grow a Garden.
How to Get Moonlit Fruit
There's only one way to get Moonlit Fruit, and that's to wait for Nightfall to happen. When the Lunar Glow event was added to the game on May 10, 2025, it brought with it the addition of a night cycle. No plants are guaranteed to get the Moonlit Mutation during Nightfall, each fruit just has a chance of becoming Moonlit.
If you're not sure exactly when the next Night Event will take place, you can always check the little owl to the right of the big Wise Old Owl to see a countdown. The countdown is always there and resets after each period of Nightfall.
As soon as Nightfall arrives, you chance to get Moonlit Fruits begins!
How to Get the Moonlit Mutation - Top Tips
Just like other mutations, obtaining the Moonlit Mutation is down to chance. You'll know if a fruit has been mutated with Moonlight, as soon as it adopts a purple hazy glow.
There are ways you can increase your chances, however, so here are a few tips:
1. Harvest As Much As You Can
Just before Nightfall comes, harvest as much of your garden as possible. The fruit that grows back during Nightfall has a higher chance of becoming Moonlit than the fruit thats just hanging around waiting to be plucked.
2. Focus on Multi-Harvest Crops
Following on from the previous point, focus on harvesting multi-harvest and quick-growing crops. That means ignore the Carrots, and the Tulips, and instead focus on crops like Tomatoes, Strawberries, and Blueberries.
3. Unlock the Night Staff
The Night Staff is a special reward you'll get for earning Lunar Points as part of the Lunar Glow Event. These are used in a similar manner to the Lightning Rods, and will direct moonlight to your fruits.
You can unlock a total of 6 Night Staffs if you gather enough Moonlit Fruit. The first one is unlocked at 40 Lunar Points, which will help you get more Moonlit Fruits. You'll then get another at 110 Lunar Points, 1 more at 250 Lunar Points, and finally 3 at 360 Lunar Points.
Each time you unlock one, it'll go straight into your backpack. Find it in your backpack, hold it, then place it down somewhere in your garden, and then it can be used up to 6 times to mutate a fruit. This will happen automatically, but you'll hear a ping and see a notification at the top of the screen saying "your night staff mutated a fruit to moonlit" when it happens.
4. Create a Private Server
For some reason, the chances of getting mutations seems more consistent in private servers. I've definitely found that my Lightning Rods work better and gives me the Shocked mutation in a private server in comparison to a public one. Thankfully, private servers are free in Grow a Garden. To make one, you just need to:
Open the Grow a Garden Roblox experience
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find Servers
Click Create Private Server in the top-right corner
Enter your Server Name
Click "Buy Now" (don't worry, it won't charge you -- they are completely free
Hit Refresh in the top-right corner
Press Join and you'll be in your brand new private server!
